For the first time, the at OCU University bestowed a DAISY award upon a faculty member for demonstrating excellence in instruction. This past fall , clinical assistant professor, received the award for the Fall 2021 semester.
Pursuing a lifelong dream, Pittman began teaching at the Kramer School of Nursing in 2017 after a successful career in clinical practice. Pittman is also a founding faculty member of the high-fidelity Meinders Simulation Center and leads a study abroad course and service-learning trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.

As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Professor Pitman practiced holistic and compassionate care for transplant patients at the Nazi Zuhdi Transplant Institute. Her areas of expertise include advanced gastroenterology, critical care, sepsis, palliative care, and diabetes.
The DAISY Foundation (DAISY being an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System) was created to express gratitude and show recognition to the incredibly meaningful work that nurses do every day. In its first iteration, The DAISY AwardFor Extraordinary Nurses (The DAISY Award), was made in partnership with hospital systems to recognize the clinical skill of nurses within the organizations. It鈥檚 since been expanded to include academic health systems in order to also provide recognition to nursing students and faculty for their work furthering the field with skill as well as .1
