The Oklahoma Psychological Association (OPA) was on the OCU University campus to help announce and celebrate Ƶ’s esteemed Psychology Department being granted accreditation contingency status by the Commission on Accreditation, American Psychological Association (APA), for its newly established Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program.
Pursing this lengthy process and obtaining accreditation solidifies the university's commitment to excellence in psychology education and marks a significant milestone in the school's academic journey. The APA accreditation serves as a testament to the high standards of academic quality, training and professional competence upheld by Ƶ's Department of Psychology. The school joins an elite group of institutions recognized for their dedication to preparing future psychologists for successful careers in the field.

"This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff and students in maintaining the highest standards of education and training in psychology. We are committed to providing our students with the knowledge, skills and experience they need to excel in their careers and make a positive impact in the field of psychology."

The PsyD program at Ƶ provides advanced training in the scientific practice of professional psychology with commitment to evidence-based practice. It offers students a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum that integrates academic coursework with hands-on training and practical experience, all of which are provided in a supportive, student-centered learning environment. Through coursework, clinical practicum opportunities, and research projects, students in the program are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent and compassionate clinical psychologists.

Ƶ will be submitting its self-study with student outcome data by Sept. 1, 2025, in pursuit of full accreditation prior to the ending of contingency status (Feb. 28, 2028).
