SUZANNE HALL GALLONEY MEMORIAL DANCE TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP

A native of Mobile, Suzanne studied at the Alabama School of Fine Arts with Sonia Arova and Thor Sutowski. She received a scholarship to the School of American Ballet in New York and later was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Carlisle Arts Learning Center Summer Choreography Program. Suzanne received the Prix D'Excellence de Danse from the Alabama School of Fine Arts, and a Merit Award from the National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts Recognition and Talent Search.

She performed with Alabama Ballet, Hartford Ballet, Ohio Ballet, Lake Erie Ballet, toured with Sesame Street Live, was a member of Mobile Ballet, and a faculty member of Mobile Ballet Dance Center. Suzanne was a guest choreographer with Eastern Shore Dance Academy during 2000-2001 and was an instructor for ESDA since 2002. Suzanne's influence as a ballet teacher went beyond ballet combinations; she helped her students find self-confidence, discipline, and most importantly, the joy of dance. She was cousin to former Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment Dean John Bedford and Dance Department Chair Jo Rowan.
